New Swimming Pool Opens at Tistung Resort to Attract Tourists
Tistung, Makwanpur – Tistung Resort, located in the historic and popular tourist destination of Tistung in Thaha Municipality-6, Makwanpur, has introduced a new swimming pool as an additional attraction for visitors.
The swimming pool was officially inaugurated on 30th May 2026 Saturday by Mani Raj Lamichhane, Gandaki Province Chief of the Nepal Tourism Board, and Shankar Bhandari, President of the Hotel Entrepreneurs Federation Nepal.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Lamichhane said that Tistung, known for its natural beauty and situated about 28 kilometers from Kathmandu, is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for tourists. He emphasized the need to further promote the Chitlang–Tistung area (currently known as the Bajrabarahi area), which holds significant historical, cultural, and religious importance.
He also expressed confidence that Tistung Resort, located near Kunchhal, a village declared a tourism village in 2018, will play an important role in promoting tourism in Thaha Municipality.
Federation President Shankar Bhandari highlighted the strong tourism potential of Thaha Municipality and urged local authorities to introduce tourism-friendly policies and programs to encourage tourism entrepreneurs. He said the newly launched swimming pool would become an important facility and attraction for visitors.
Bhandari also stressed that the government, private sector, and local communities must work together for the sustainable development of tourism.
Resort Chairman Hari Gopal Shrestha said the resort has introduced various packages to provide quality services and a relaxing experience for both domestic and international tourists visiting Tistung. He added that guests can enjoy panoramic views of the entire Tistung Valley while experiencing a peaceful stay close to nature.
Another resort operator, Binod Maharjan, informed that guests can currently enjoy a package priced at NPR 3,500, which includes welcome drinks, a non-vegetarian dinner, breakfast, overnight accommodation, and free access to the swimming pool. He also stated that the resort plans to introduce additional services and packages based on customer demand in the future.
The event was attended by resort operators, representatives of local organizations, journalists, and local residents. With the expansion of tourism infrastructure, locals believe that the Tistung area is steadily establishing itself as a major destination for domestic tourism.
